Client Background

The client is a San Jose–based cloud software company delivering enterprise-grade B2B SaaS solutions. Their platform ingests high-velocity telemetry, subscription, and operational datasets used by Product, Sales, and Operations to measure adoption, retention, and revenue. They required production-grade Tableau dashboards that provide timely, accurate, and governed insights while meeting strict performance and scalability requirements.

Client Requirements

The client required experienced Tableau Developers for immediate joining on a six-month contract (with possible extension) to augment their Analytics/BI team. The role demanded expertise in designing and delivering Tableau workbooks, practical experience with Tableau Server/Online scheduling permissions and administration, the ability to translate complex business requirements into precise technical specifications, and the capability to enable business users through documentation and knowledge transfer.

The client’s operational constraints: remote work (San Jose, CA — PST) and immediate availability.

Specific Technical Requirements

  • 6+ years of demonstrated expertise in developing story-driven dashboards and analytics
  • 6+ years of hands-on experience with SQL, relational database management systems, data modeling, and normalization
  • Hands-on expertise with Tableau workbooks and Tableau server
  • Advanced development skills in Tableau, with a deep understanding of advanced calculations and functions.
  • Working knowledge of Tableau administration/architecture, contributing to the holistic understanding of the Tableau ecosystem.
  • Experience in building story-driven dashboards and end-to-end visual analytics for Product, Sales, or Ops teams.
  • Proficiency in translating complex business requirements into clear technical specifications
  • Ensuring alignment between data solutions and business functions.
  • Strong communication skills to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Team Integration Requirements

The developers were required to align with the client’s San Jose core hours and provide a three-hour daily overlap for real-time collaboration, beginning at 10:00 AM Pacific Time (10:30 PM IST). Developers were required to join immediately and coordinate access to JIRA, Confluence, and Tableau Server. They were asked to participate in the client’s BI/Product scrum, attended daily standups, sprint planning, demos, and worked according to the client’s backlog and acceptance criteria.
